Fishing
The surrounding rivers and lakes offer a great source of trout and course angling, especially the suck river and lake O'Flynn.

Claremorris, about ten miles from Williamstown offers an indoor heated swimming pool.
  
Walking
Suck Valley Way ; The River Suck links a 60 mile stretch of countryside in West Roscommon and East Galway known as The Suck River Valley. Walkers can enjoy this unspoiled countryside by walking The Suck Valley Way.
The 100km Walk Way is unusual among Irish Waymarked Ways because for most of it's length it lies across lowland farms. It also crosses the boglands and callows of the river Suck with their numerous lakes and drainage channels. The way passes through the "Nine Friendly Villages", Ballygar, Creggs, Glinsk, Ballymoe, Ballintubber, Dunamon, Castlecoote, Athleague and Castlecoote.
 
GAA
Being on the border of Galway and Roscommon, there is a healthy GAA parish and county rivalry. At week-ends there is always either an inter club or inter county GAA match.
Well worth a visit.
